This week, two everyday pantry items—canned beans and fresh tomatoes—were recalled in multiple U.S. states due to serious food safety concerns.

Canned Beans Recalled Over Undeclared Allergen

The Vietti Food Group is recalling 4,515 cases of its Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans, distributed across 23 states. These beans contain undeclared soy, posing a serious risk to individuals with soy allergies.

While no illnesses have been reported so far, the FDA urges consumers to avoid eating these beans and to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.

Tomatoes Recalled Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination

Fresh tomatoes produced by H&C Farms and distributed under two brand names — Williams Farms Repack and Ray & Mascari Inc. — have been recalled in 14 states over possible Salmonella contamination.

Although no cases of illness have been reported, the FDA advises consumers not to eat these tomatoes and to dispose of or return them immediately.
