Thrombocytopenia

Thrombocytopenia is a condition in which the blood has an abnormally low number of platelets, the cells responsible for blood clotting. It can cause easy bruising, prolonged bleeding, and in severe cases, internal bleeding. Causes range from autoimmune disorders to infections, and treatment depends on the underlying condition and platelet levels.
